Old Starship by samuelcroes Old Starship by samuelcroes
A variation on the "Old Rocket" theme, although this time I used a stranded insterstellar starship instead of a retro themed rocket.

I really dig this picture. The idea of coming across an old abandoned (?) spaceship on some dusty forgotten planet has a great romanticism to it. Is there anything inside? Who built this thing? Are they still around? What can we humans learn from such a relic? I'm totally stealing this idea and using it in a RPG I'll be playing with my nephews. Thank you.

Mind you I'm stealing the idea, not the picture. I'm not some picture thief.

This is really cool man, I love the potential for a deep story that's implied here. Did you have a story in mind when you made this?

Bah, I can get it running. I just need to get the main reactor working, or build a tritium reactor to replace it. And I'll need several tons metal to make the electromagnets for the antigravity drive to get the thing off of the ground. Plus I'm gonna need several tons of insulation to keep the magnetic field of the engine bell stable. The good news is I'll only need about a gram of antihydrogen to fly the thing back into orbit.

Very nice.

Wouldn't have been out of place in the old "Spacewrecks" coffee table book by Stewart Cowley.
